Residents and Mackay locals alike have been waiting with bated breath for a new charter boat to start operating transfers between Mackay Harbour and Keswick Island for some time. ‘Keswick Explorer’ was recently spotted at Mackay Marina receiving the final touches before it starts the much-needed service.

Captained by former Island Air pilot, Glenn Leigh-Smith, the leisurely trip from Mackay should be an interesting one for day trippers and holidaying passengers. Transfers to Hamilton Island will also be offered in the future.

But that’s not all that’s being planned for tourism on Keswick Island… Indulge in a ‘champagne picnic tour by helicopter’ or a ‘taste of Keswick.’ A great way to explore and experience the delights of the southern Whitsunday Islands.

New hire services planned on Keswick include:

  • snorkel hire
  • SUP hire
  • sea kayak hire
  • buggy hire

Coming to Keswick Island soon — Sea kayak hire

Furthermore, customised tours will be available in the future including:

  • Eco walking tours
  • Glass bottom boat tours
  • Snorkel tours
  • Private helicopter tours

It’s great to see some positive tourism planned for visitors coming to Keswick at last, and to see the island access opening up again. Unfortunately we’re not kept in the loop with communications even though we live on Keswick Island, so we can’t predict exactly when these services will start, and the last we heard, the enquiry form on the following website doesn’t work… However, you may discover more information by visiting Keswick Explorer ยป.
